Free Reflective Essay
A reflective essay seeks to investigate your feelings about a particular topic or issue. It is not supposed to be very difficult since you only have to state your views, opinions and insights on the subject matter. You do not have to write about what you have learned but you need to state your personal experiences.
Some professors ask their students to write reflective essays while they are completing a project. They are asked to write a reflective essay everyday on their experiences. At the end of the course, they will be asked to gather all these reflective essays and incorporate then in one reflective journal.
All reflective essays start by describing an event that a person has experienced. After describing the experience, you should state your feelings on the event or experience. What do you feel or think about the event? Then you evaluate your experience. What was good or bad about your experience? Then you formulate your own conclusion such as what you would have done or what you will do the next time you are faced with a similar experience.
Tips in Writing Reflective Essay
In writing a reflective essay you need to write from the first person voice. This means you will only use I or We. Since a reflective essay talks about your experiences you do not have to discuss what other people think and feel. In writing a reflective essay you should include reflective language in your paper. This means you will use the words “I think”, “I feel” “I am interested in” and “I realized that” very often throughout the paper.
